Eleanor Shaw was awarded the title of "Artist of the Month" November 2001. She has been an active member of the guild since 1976, and has served as the historian of the guild. Her art can be viewed in galleries in Branch County. She is one of the artists working on the mural for the betterment of the community in downtown Coldwater.
Eleanor became interested in art when a child. Drawing pictures was a favorite way to entertain herself, with pencil and paper or crayons. While studying education at WMU, a minor in art was pursued. Additional art classes were also chosen while working on a Master's degree.After graduation, Eleanor worked as a schoolteacher, maintaining her interest in art through the years.
Eleanor enjoys painting in the media of oils and watercolors. Her favorite subject is to paint flowers, although she excels in paintings of landscapes and other subjects. She has studied through local instructors, and Internationally known artists: Tony Van Hasselt, Lisa Gunthrie, Sara Schmerl, and Charlotte Britton. Eleanor paints views of her travels and also enjoys nature subjects.
