Peg Voss
Peg Voss has served the art guild for many years as President and in other official positions. Her family has also been active in the community with their art store, Voss Art, which also hosts art classes and has framing services.
Peg is a self-taught artist and excels in oil painting. Other mediums she enjoys are acrylic, watercolor, pastel and 'you name it'. She has been doing art since she was able to 'hold a crayon'. Both Norman Rockwell and Vermeer have influenced her and Peg says her mother-in-law, Estelle Voss, and her husband, William Voss, are her greatest supporters.
Peg writes: "I love getting 'lost' in the art. I love the materials and learning new techniques."
Peg enjoys the guild for the companionship of the other artists. "It is great to have others to talk to about art and art techniques and materials. We push each other and encourage each other." Peg has been a member of the guild for over twenty years. Much of that time she has served as an officer. She has given time, energy, and inspiration to many others through the guild and her Voss Art business. Voss Art in downtown Coldwater is a good place to get artists supplies and to find or order those hard to find supplies not available in other stores.
Peg states her goal is to "learn something new or improve everyday." Her style is a 'soft, realistic' style and her favorite subjects are animals, peaceful places, waterfalls, nature and people.
To truly appreciate Peg's art, it should be viewed close up…photographs do not do it justice. So visit Voss Art or one of the places the guild regularly exhibits (Grahl Center etc.) to see her art.
