The Fine Art of Ruth Bidwell

Our Dear Friend Ruth passed away. She is dearly missed by the Guild who remembers her contributions to the arts, her kind and gentle personality and her beautiful art.

Ruth Bidwell has been awarded the Branch County Art Guild's July 2002 Artist of the Month award. Ruth has been a member of the Guild since 1968. At that time it was the

Coldwater Art Club.

Ruth Bidwell began doing art as a child. Her favorite subjects are landscapes, florals, and still life. Her favorite media are oil and pen and ink. One of Ruth's goals is to also learn

watercolor.

Ruth studied through the Famous Artist's Correspondence Art School. Her late Husband, Loren Bidwell, encouraged her development in art. Her daughter is her greatest supporter, encouraging her and requests paintings of Ruth of specific subjects. Ruth is pleased that her daughter is so pleased with her artwork, and that positive reinforcement from a loved one is a great asset and encouragement to an artist.

Ruth's style is realism, but she wants to try abstract art also.

Bidwell states that what she likes about being in the guild is "Meeting with people who

have a like interest...the exchanging of ideas and the critiques of our individual paintings."

Ruth's work is on display at various galleries in the area.
