Parker was awarded the Branch County Art Guild's June 2002 Artist of the Month award. Theo has been a member of the Guild for 5 years and enjoys the fellowship and learning experiences in the guild. Theo began drawing at age 3, copying pictures, and creating from his imagination. His parents were supportive, also a third grade teacher. They allowed Theo to do art instead of other things. When his teacher saw how well the young man could draw animals, she asked him to instruct the rest of the class. Theo studied art in high school for four years. Other than that, he has learned from art instruction books, and considers himself basically a self-taught artist.Other artist's work has inspired Theo to use his hands and mind to express his imagination and inner feelings.One of Theo Parker's goals is to receive a degree and be an art teacher. He enjoys working in pastels, oils, acrylics, and charcoal. He has developed his own style, not trying to paint in anyone else's style. People have commissioned Theo to do a variety of artwork. He appreciates the independence of being an artist, of painting what his innermost being is inspired by as well as painting for others.Theo Parker likes the seminars, meetings and exhibit opportunities as a member of the guild.He also likes the presentations by other artists, who attend meetings periodically as guest speakers.Theo has painted a variety of subjects, done a variety of projects through the years.
