Beatrice Wickwire

Beatrice Wickwire was awarded the Branch County Art Guild's March 2002 Artist of the Month. She has been a member of the guild since 1994, and enjoys the fellowship and learning experiences in the guild.

Beatrice began art in Ernest in high school. She later studied art at the Institute of Art in Detroit, also at the Detroit Society of Arts and Crafts, and at the Kissimmee Gallery at Sebring, Florida.

Her favorite media are oil painting and pastels. The artist Monet inspired Beatrice with his beautiful impressionistic art, and Mr.Palazzo and Mrs. Aaronson lended their encouragement.

Beatrice's art is a combination of impressionism and realism. Her subjects are often the natural landscape. She feels her greatest supporter is her Husband, Donald, who encourages her to develop her talent, and assists her by framing her artwork.

Beatrice feels that art gives her a sense of peace, and that the guild is beneficial in that the members help and encourage each other. Her main goal is to keep doing and improving her art.

Beatrice states that she enjoys doing art for the peace it brings, and that her goal is to get "better and better".

In her art career, she also illustrated the children's book, The One Eared Bunny, written by Allie Grigg.
